I am a boarder at the Regent's school, this is because my parents live in Saudi Arabia. I frequently go back there to see them and spend time with them fore I only see them 2 or 3 times a year. In my winter 2010-2011 break I spent lots of time with my mother.
My mother is a cook and she owns her own Thai Takeaway, she also has cooking classes. My mum invited me to join this cooking class so that i could help her with her takeaway when she has a large amount of costumers at one time. I took place in this class and I did 1 or 2 hours a day for 2 weeks. She is a professional and she has a license which she had earned in Thailand many years ago.
Cooking has always been my mothers dream and she has achieved it. She is very happy with what she does no matter how much she makes. This inspired me to follow my own dream rather than doing what people tell me to do. So now because of my mother I am following a path that I know I will enjoy.
Doing this activity with my mother has taught me many new skills in cooking and how to handle food with care. i also learnt that cleanliness and safety was a key point that had to be used. i learnt how to prepare dishes and how to talk to customers politely. this will benefit me in the future when i need to cook my own food and if i take part in a business where communicating customers is frequent. this also benefited my mother since her work load is very tiresome and i helped her in the kitchen therefore her workload individually was reduced. i also helped her to answer the phone to customers whilst she could carry on preparing food for others in line. i also grew my relationship with my mother since we hardly see each other this helped to build on my relationship skills and this may also benefit me in the future if i need to create strong relations with a business parter or any other sort of partners.
